Country Star Lauren Alaina to Headline Benefit Concert for Adults with Special Needs
September 19, 2017
Country star Lauren Alaina is teaming up with Nashville nonprofit, Friends Life Community, for an unforgettable evening of music and philanthropy. Alaina, who just won her first CMT Music Award for “Breakthrough Video of the Year,” will take the stage alongside other artists to raise money for adults with disabilities served through Friends Life Community’s programming.
The 9th Annual Songwriters’ Night, which will take place Tuesday, September 19, at City Winery, will include cocktail hour, plated dinner, a full concert, and a VIP experience. It will also include performances by Dalton Domino, Hanna Rae, and Jameson Elder.
“We are honored to welcome Lauren to our Songwriters’ Night stage this year,” said Friends Life Community Executive Director, Waverly Ann Harris. “Not only does she represent the incredible talent this city has to offer, but she also exemplifies the generous, giving spirit that makes Nashville stand out.”
Friends Life Community, located in Green Hills, helps adults with special needs build relationships, increase their independence, and become more active and included in the broader community. Founded in 2007, the organization offers a day program, social club, and career and life coaching services.
Georgia native Lauren Alaina captured America’s hearts when she appeared on Season 10 of American Idol. On Jan. 27, Lauren followed up her No. 1 debuting first album with the release of the eagerly-awaited Road Less Traveled. Selected as one of Rolling Stone’s Most Anticipated Albums of 2017, the collection of 12 songs, all written by the young star, includes Lauren’s first #1 hit and title track, “Road Less Traveled.”
Songwriters’ Night partners include Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Jackalope Brewing Company. This will be the organization’s ninth year to host Songwriters’ Night. Previous artists have included Amy Grant, Rivers Rutherford, Jason Isbell, and Amanda Shires.
