Life Skills
Friends gain the confidence needed to pursue their dreams with the dignity they deserve.Gaining Independence
Individuals gain the confidence to become more independent at home, at work, and in the community through the Life Skills program at Friends Life Community. As the Friends grow in self-advocacy, social awareness, safety, and daily living skills, they decrease their dependency on caregivers and are able to take greater personal responsibility for their own lives.
Life Skills classes and initiatives include:
- Functional Literacy
- Cooking
- Conversations/Communication 101
- Safety Skills
- Health and Wellness
- Hygiene

They explore Nashville while practicing social skills and engaging with their peers in the community. They learn cooking skills while baking for others. They establish healthy routines by exercising each day. They practice safety skills with role playing and intentional examples in the community.
