Matthew Berry

Matthew is a 32-year-old native Nashvillian. He has been a part of Friends Life Community since 2012. He enjoys socializing, helping in the community, creating art, participating in theatrical performances, and learning new job skills.

Matthew has held numerous jobs over the years including the Greyhound bus station, Goodwill Industries, Donelson Auto Clinic, McNamara’s Irish Pub, and the Treat Truck.

Meeting new people and serving others is a natural trait for him. Matthew loves greeting and serving guests best of all.

Brian Clippinger

Brian started attending FLC in 2021. That summer was Brian’s introduction to the Treat Truck and he volunteered for a number of events. After he graduated from Lipscomb University’s IDEAL program in May, 2022, he excitedly returned to FLC and was given the opportunity to become the Treat Truck’s first paid employee.

As an Associate, Brian continues to gain work and interpersonal skills that will benefit him his entire life. Serving and socializing with customers is his favorite. He has gained confidence, built teamwork experience, and enjoyed professionally representing FLC across Nashville.

Carrie DePauw

Carrie has been at FLC since 2008. Her favorite thing about FLC is “everything!” which includes friends, staff, and being active in the community. She says the highlight of her experience was becoming a Treat Truck Associate.

Carrie was born in Phoenix, AZ, and moved to Nashville in childhood. A graduate of Hillsboro High she went on to complete the jobs program at the Tennessee Rehab Center and Next Steps at Vanderbilt.

She is currently employed in Vanderbilt’s dining services. When relaxing, you will find her listening to music with her dog, Max, by her side.

Emma Irby

Although she is quiet, Emma is a sharp observer and a hard worker. She is proud of her work, whether volunteering at The Store or the BELL Garden, or working on the Treat Truck. Her nickname is “Miss Sunshine” because she always has a smile.

Emma continues to take on more responsibilities at home, and hopes to become a strong greeter and representative of Friends Life Community.

Besides completing art projects at home, Emma enjoys traveling and visiting family. She is actively involved at church and in a Bible Study Group.
