Spring is in full bloom and the Friends in Advocacy Through the Arts have been hard at work in the studio planting seeds of creativity! In Open Studio and Maker’s Class, the Friends build confidence, are able to express themselves creatively, and get paid for their talents through the selling of their work.
Please join us to celebrate their achievements and the arrival of Spring at our Spring Market this Saturday, April 24th from 11am – 3pm at Friends Life Community just in time for your Mother’s Day gift-giving needs, rain or shine.
Over 150 original artworks created by the Friends will be featured and available for purchase, in addition to Friends Life Community merchandise and our new Spring line of screen-printed tea towels, zipper pouches, and baby onesie and bib sets designed and created by the Friends.
Local vendors like Granny Kim’s Breads and Things, Valerie Duncan Designs, Moon Halo Designs, Kay Kennedy’s Magical Macramé, Just Love Coffee, Living Waters Brewery, Grace’s Jewelry and Art, Christopher Weeks Pottery, and others will be on hand to share the joy!
Friends Life Community’s very own Dance Ensemble will be performing their original dance piece “You Got the Power” at 12:30 and 1:30.
Here is a small glimpse of artwork made by the Friends that will be available at this lively event:
Carrie DePauw creates work that feel esoteric in nature, rhythmically saturated with patterned rings and embellished with metallic and pastel dots.
Nicholas Lampe is new to Friends Life Community and is quickly becoming an established artist in the studio. His work is emotional, moody and embodies musical references of all kinds.
Inna’s work is playful and familiar. She likes to create fun characters who gaze back at you from the canvas, decorated in vivid swaths of color.
Sam Nafzger creates small landscapes on small pieces of wood that convey true impressions of edginess and sophistication within their simplicity. His color combinations are breathtaking.
Join us for the Spring Market!
